CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

SANSHOU GROUP CLASSES

Our sanshou group classes are 2 hours long. To prepare our bodies for combative training we undergo a full body warmup (jumping rope, running, other exercises), conditioning exercises (pushups, situps, pullups, squats), and flexibility training (static and dynamic stretching). This is followed by the drilling and refining of specific techniques such as footwork, punching, kicking, and wrestling, as well as bag and pad-work. Class is usually concluded with controlled light sparring to apply the techniques learned in class, some finishing exercises, and a cool-down.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Workout Clothes (t-shirt & shorts / sweat pants)
  • Water Bottle
  • Towel
  • Handwraps, Bag Gloves, Skipping Rope (optional – we have extra to share or for purchase)

CHILDREN’S CLASS

Kickstart your child’s athleticism with Children’s Sanshou Class. For kids up to 13 years of age, our program will lay the groundwork for a healthy athletic lifestyle by teaching them strength, flexibility, co-ordination, perseverance, dedication, and hard work. They will learn how to properly pick people up, how to safely fall without getting hurt, how to punch and kick with correct technique. They will learn effective self-defence skills and be taught never use them to bully others. Most importantly, they will learn how to be social, make friends, and gain confidence that will make them successful in all fields of life.

WOMEN’S CLASS

Sometimes women prefer not to wrestle with sweaty stinky dudes. That’s totally understandable. That’s why we have Women Only classes! But this isn’t just cardio kickboxing. Our women’s sanshou program has the same instructor, same 2 hour class time, where you learn the same effective fighting techniques and go through the same conditioning workouts. Everything’s the same, minus the stinky guys. Women are also free to join regular classes. Wow, what a deal: regular membership + 2 women only classes, all for a discounted membership fee. COMPETITIVE ATHLETES

In addition to working basic skills in the sanshou class, our competitive sanshou athletes will receive one-on-one coaching to further refine their combat skills in preparation for competition. Those interested in being serious competitors will take their strength and conditioning to the next level, through specialized training programs and intense sparring days.

All competitive athletes must own the necessary equipment for training:

  • Protective Cup
  • Handwraps
  • Headgear
  • 14oz+ Sparring Gloves
  • Shinguards.
